I continue to stand in awe at Nature’s mystery… The temperature this morning in our brewed compost tea was 90 degrees F!

This is remarkable to me when I contemplate the energy being created in the tea. 24 hours ago we started the brew at 74 degrees. We drop a sleeve of worm castings into the center of the brewer, add some food to feed the biology in the castings (sea kelp, fish, bat guano, etc.), and turn on the air stones to add oxygen. This brewer is in an uninsulated building pulling in ambient temperature air. Now, check out the¬†overnight low… 39 degrees! (And the high was just 59.)

That’s an increase of 16 degrees in brew temperature just by the multiplication of microscopic critters from the worm castings. What is going on in there??? While I can’t give you a biological dissertation I can say that we are going to be adding a lot of life to our customers’ yards today!
